Founding partner Kurt Andrew Schlichter runs a tight ship. The retired Army colonel tackles the most difficult legal challenges with a steady head, discipline, and a keen strategic mind that wins cases. Fortune 500 companies, mid and small sized businesses rely on his legal expertise in a variety of fields: contractor and builder disputes, real estate, contracts, fraud, defamation and malicious prosecution.
Kurt frequently serves as a news source, an on-screen commentator, and a legal analyst on Fox News, Fox Business News and HLN, as well as many national and local radio shows.
Recently Kurt has: won an individual a $3 million defamation judgment, successfully defended a nationally known bank against a multi-million dollar lender liability claim, and prevailed in defending an individual accused of misappropriating over $2 million. He’s prevailed in trials and arbitrations involving consumer lawsuits, major injury/death personal injury defense and contract disputes.
Just in the last two years he’s won: three consumer fraud cases, one of which led to a published appellate decision upholding the verdict; a summary judgment on a multi-death claim against a landlord; a unanimous defense verdict on a death claim against a contractor; a defense verdict in a property loss claim involving a valuable diamond ring; an appellate decision and over $30,000 in fees and costs in a consumer fraud case.
While Kurt’s legal prowess is impressive, so is his military career. He rose to become an Army infantry colonel (Active and National Guard), after graduating from the elite Army Airborne School. He’s a veteran of both the Persian Gulf War and Operation Enduring Freedom in Kosovo. He commanded over the 1200 Soldiers of the 1st Squadron, 18th Cavalry Regiment (Reconnaissance-Surveillance-Target Acquisition) and the Rear Element, 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry. Much of his work focused on disaster relief operations.
Kurt also spent several years as a stand-up comic. He speaks often to groups around the country.
His organizational and strategy skills gained from his military experience, combined with his ability to connect with and win over audiences he learned as a performer, have contributed greatly to his successful representation of his clients.
Kurt graduated from Loyola Law School, where he was a Senior Note and Comment Editor on the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. He majored in Communications and Political Science as an undergraduate at the University of California, San Diego. He holds a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
Kurt is admitted to practice in California, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
